I hope you have a wonderful day, whether you celebrate Valentine’s Day or not. Every day should be filled with love, really.

Josh and I do celebrate, sort of. We get little gifts for each other and tonight I am making dessert, which we usually don’t eat. I think I partly like celebrating for the amusement factor because of how cheesy the day is and how much of big deal it is for marketing. Valentine’s Day – another good reason for a sale! It’s kind of fun to make fun of it by not taking it seriously and being extra goofy (we are already extremely goofy).

Our first Valentine’s, Josh wrote me a poem and made a Venn diagram stating how awesome I am. I wrote him a love letter. Last year he got me Lego and I made him creme brulee. This year I ordered a large box of American candy for us to share* and bought him a Star Wars ‘How To Speak Wookie’ book, complete with sound! I really hope he does not read this before he gets home. If so, sorry honeybee!

Honestly, Valentine’s Day is just an excuse to have an extra date night in our week . And it is motivation to shave my legs and wear nicer underwear.

P.S., I have some extremely exciting + terrifying news to announce in the coming week, once my head a little more wrapped around it all. No, I am not pregnant.

LEGO! I adore Lego, always have. I’m the kind of adult who will sit down with a box of Lego and go nuts. I’m the kind of auntie who secretly wishes her neices and nephews will get Lego for birthdays and Christmas so that I can make it for with them. So getting this Ninjago Lego set was the highlight of my week.

Except there should be a blue lamp on the right, but we have a guest staying who’s using it.

And lastly, my new pencil case for university. Originally I was going to sew one but when I saw this I had to get it. OWLS! It came with a matching swimming bag as well, though it’s kid-sized so I don’t think I could even fit my beach towel in it, haha.

I used to be a bit anti-Valentine’s Day. Well, anti-the commercialisation of Valentine’s Day, which ultimately clouded anything that was actually nice about a day for celebrating love as opening and as cheesily as one wants. But what can I say? I’m crazy in-love with an amazing guy who treats me beautifully every single day. So even without a day like today, I would still feel like the luckiest woman in the world to have such a perfect man! I still wanted to do something a little extra-special today though, because I’ve never ever celebrated Valentine’s Day before. Fortunately he didn’t scrunch up his nose about it.

Both of us are pretty broke at the moment so I came up with the idea of not spending any money. We’d basically have to be creative and use whatever we had on hand to make gifts. I decided to write him a letter and make it look a bit fancy with some fun folding. He wrote me a beautiful poem and made a funny and cute Venn Diagram. We actually ended up giving them to each other on Wednesday because we couldn’t wait and weren’t entirely sure if we’d get to spend today together, which we’ve actually been able to do. We’ve had a really relaxed day, watched TV, made food, etc.
