The loveliest yellow and blue nursery for girls I ever did see!

A cute idea to liven up gifts: paper and button flowers. I know what I’ll be doing for the next birthday!

I’m not a fashionista at all. I’ve never bought a designer piece of clothing in my life. But this dress by Marc Jacobs is calling my name…

Adorable illustration for 2modern’s exclusive new boutique, 2modern collective.

I’ve fallen in love with Caroline Bourles designs. Her textiles are so lovely, too!

On the subject of textiles, this vintage fabric is darling. Cutest wildlife ever!

And finally, I leave with these sweet little kitty dolls!

Happy week everyone! I hope you have lots of pretty things in your life.

Yup, a brand new 2011 feature! I’m participating in Project 365 this year and instead of posting a photo a day, I’m going to gather photos from my week and share them on a Sunday. I’m excited to really get stuck into this – I think it’ll be a fun way to capture more of my everyday life. There might be a lot of cell phone photos, but I make no apologies. Sometimes that’s all I’ve got and sometimes you just gotta work with that, in all its grainy glory.
For descriptions, you can check out my Project 365 set or click on the individual photo.

Finally, here are a few shots from Christmas Day, mostly of the kiddos and during the morning. By the afternoon I was pretty exhausted so photo-taking was at a minimum by then (because I’m pretty much the only one that takes photos around here, haha).

Nephew and brother-in-law.

He was so excited.

My niece was pretty subdued most of the time. She was still half asleep and more interested in a morning drink than tearing off wrapping paper.

But, of course, once her older brother kindly tore the paper off for her, she was very into the gifts!

My eldest nephew (13) and Romeo.

Little Rabbit in the new playhouse! Stay tuned later in the week for a showcase of the playhouse.

Our tough guy! Despite the bag whacking him in the face at least once, he continued, haha.

Persia with the teddy bear I made for her. Details of ‘Purple’, as Persia named her, to come soon.

My niece, Courtney, striking a silly pose. This kid is amazing and so full of energy, love and kindness. Adore her!

My two eldest nephews, recently teenagers! They’re two of the awesomest boys I know, with the best senses of humour.
So, there you have it! The majority of the day captured on film, but you can see more of it here.

It’s been a couple of weeks since my post introducing our puppy, Missy. She’s doing very well, has put on weight (she was slightly underweight) and isn’t taking quite as long to eat. She’s also learning commands fairly easily and aside from the usual puppy naughtiness (i.e., running off with shoes and trying to play with our geriatric dog who’s very uninterested) she’s wonderfully behaved. She’s got the sweetest nature too! We’re all totally besotted with her, as I’m sure you can imagine. My two-year-old, animal-mad niece especially.
Anyway, without further ado, here’s a bunch of photos I took of her last week while we were playing (she’s grown a wee bit since then).

Her eyes are truly that colour, a wonderful pale steel gray-blue. And her nose is chocolate brown, like a chocolate button, hehe.

Hiding in her basket. Behind her is Teddy, a toy I gave her the day she arrived. She takes Teddy everywhere, including on walks and up the stairs.

She’s also got a chocolate dipped tail!

I love how dog faces wrinkle like that. Omigosh it makes me want to squeak.

This pup is a huge fan of tummy rubs. She flops down at your feet and rolls on her back for a tickle. This is how she greets me each morning, though she is usually also wrapped around my legs!

See that little tongue tip? Yeah, I often spy her sleeping like that, with the tip of her tongue hanging out.

Adore this photo, I just wish her face had been in the light but she was insistent on facing the way she was, lol.

1. Garden Birds duvet cover from Urban Outfitters. I may be able to give up on my yellow duvet obsession for this. Maybe.
2. My niece’s growing language skills. Her pronunciation is coming along nicely and the way she says ‘mango’ melts my heart! Sorry I don’t have a sound bite of it!

3. Moccasins. It’s the wrong season for them here, but if I still love ‘em next winter then I will own a pair.

4. Archery. Bruises and sore hand aside, it’s a super-fun sport. Possibly the only sport I will ever be interested in (until my future kiddos start playing).

5. Sewing (although above image is actually a cake!). This week has been a wonderfully productive one at the sewing machine.

6. Christmas decorations. For the first time in my life I will have my very own xmas tree, a small artificial one for my bedroom. I’ve been collecting up a few decorations here and there over the last few weeks. Can’t wait for December 1st!

7. Earl Gray tea.

8. Blueberries, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. FOREVER I SHALL LOVE YOU.

9. Elsie and Emma’s wedding blog, Le Wedding. Elsie and her sister have started the blog as Elsie prepares for her wedding next year. Super-cute with tonnes of inspirational posts.
10. Good weather. Although I am having to try an make peace with the humidity, I’m just glad it’s not pouring outside all the time.

1. On my Christmas wish-list for sure!

2. ‘Kay, well I really need one of those Silhouette SD cutters.

3. Saw this bike at the bike shop near The Boyfriend’s house. Niiiice. Needs a basket though.

4. Super-cute paper craft.

5. Pop art stacking mugs from Stevens, and pretty much everything else from that store.

6. This amazing dress. I have no idea who designed it though.

7. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Californication days. Reminds me of childhood, ‘Scar Tissue’, summer ’99, teen music obsessions, my first concert, rock star crushes, best online friends, first boyfriend, and so much more. Band of my youth!

8. Rocky Horror Picture Show. Seeing the live show later tonight with The Boyfriend! Insert excited jumping up and down here.

9. Castles. In particular, Château de Brissac in France.

10. Studios. Would give anything for my own.

Yellow was my favourite colour as a child, then it was purple, and then for a while there it was black. Now I love many colours, the whole spectrum, really and everything in between. But I still have my favourites: yellow, purple, blue, grey, green. Yellow, in particular, of late. I think it might be my summer colour.
