This afternoon my mum found this baby rabbit after it had been somewhat caught by one of our cats (Lola — Molly doesn’t know how to hunt rabbits). He/She had a bit of a scare and is currently recovering in a box until positively fit enough to go back into the wild. At this size, it should be weaned from its mother by now, so that’s fortunate in terms of our being able to look after him or her.

Cuuuutee! ^__^

The 5000 Question Survey: Pt 3

Posted by Sam on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at 04:26 pm

Yes, I am very bored, so I shall spam my blog with crap. Hurrah!

41. If you were travelling to another continent would you rather fly or take a boat? Fly. Fly, fly, fly. I’m not big on boats and cruises don’t appeal.
42. Why is the sky blue during the day and black at night? Because on a clear day the molecules in the air scatter more blue light from the sun than red light, at sunset the sky goes reddish because the blue light is scattered away and so you see more red. At night it’s black because the sun is on another part of the earth. This won’t make any sense if you don’t know that light is made up of all the colours of the rainbow. :p
43. What does your name mean? The listener. It’s appropriate.
44. Would you rather explore the deeps of the ocean or outer space? Ocean, because I’m definitely guaranteed to find some life there.
45. What is the first word that comes to mind when you see the word:
Air: clear.
Meat: pain.
Different: weird.
Pink: cigarette (it’s a song).
Deserve: open.
White: clean.
Elvis: sequins.
Magic: witch.
Heart: blood.
Clash: punk.
Pulp: Uma Thurman.
46. If you could meet any person in the world who is dead who would you want it to be? Leonardo Da Vinci.
47. What if you could meet anyone who is alive? A friend of mine from overseas.
48. Is there a movie that you love so much you could watch it everyday? Nah, I’d get sick of it eventually.
49. You are going to be stuck alone in an elevator for a week. What do you bring to do? Does it have a power outlet? If so: laptop and roaming internet stick. Books, craft supplies.
50. Have you ever saved someone’s life or had your life saved? Nope.
51. Make up a definition for the following silly words…
Fruitgoogle: A fruity food with eyes in it. Like, something weird and full of red food colouring and sugar, for kids. :p
Ambytime: Where you can be in two timezones at once.
Armcactus: Disease of the arm in which you grow prickles, like a cactus!
52. What was the last thing you made with your own hands? A cup of tea.
53. What was your favorite toy as a child? My baby dolls. I had real nappies and real babies clothes for them.
54. How many TV’s are in your house? Two, but only one is set up.
55. What is your favorite thing to do outside? Laze in the sunshine, sit around the table and chat with people, pick flowers, take photos.
56. How do you feel when you see a rainbow? They still elicit a sense of childlike glee.
57. Have you ever dreamt a dream that came true? If my recent dreams come true, I would be one verrrry happy person. :D
58. Have you ever been to a psychic/tarot reader? Yes, I’ve been to two. One was better than the other. I don’t talk about what either of them said, but the good one most definitely knew things that no one else on the planet knows about me. It was basically awesome.
59. What is your idea of paradise? A little cottage with a perfectly rambling garden full of flowers, surrounded by fields of wild flowers, and close to a nice secluded, calm beach.
60. Do you believe in God and if so what is he/she/it like? I do believe that there is a part of the human experience that we cannot comprehend, but I don’t believe in there being a god that created everything and so forth.

Novel Time Off

Posted by Sam on Sunday, August 30th, 2009 at 11:30 am

I’ve got the next two weeks off university; that is, it’s lecture and tutorial free, but of course there are assignments to work on. I’ve given myself this weekend off from doing anything university-related because I want to use the next to weeks to catch up on readings, start assignments and plan for exams, and I know it’s important to have some time to totally relax and do something else. Trouble is, I don’t know what to do!

I’ve spent the last six weeks doing at least some study every day so it’s kind of become to ingrained; having this time to do whatever I want feels weird. I don’t know what I want to do! And I keep thinking about all the work I want to get done over this break. I wish my brain had a switch I could flick in order to turn these thoughts off, but no. :p

I spent yesterday getting a peanut butter sandwich smeared all over me by my niece (no complaints, she can do that as much as she likes); talking to friends online; spring cleaning my room, and, oh my god, watching that thing called a television. Now what? Maybe I could finish reading that book I started before university began, or start a new one, or dye my hair, or cook something, or have a nap. I would love to leave the house, but being drivers licenseless and a bit rural makes that difficult.

Do you ever notice that when you have free time to do whatever you like, if you don’t fill that time with many things you just end up feeling incredibly tired?

Lugging a backpack around uni all day was getting lame, so I picked this up at a Strandbags sale a couple of weeks ago. I heart it oh so much, and I can fit everything but the kitchen sink in it. Because I don’t need to take a kitchen sink to uni, just every else. :p

Yesterday I bought a pair of grey canvas sneakers from Number 1 Shoe Warehouse, but I couldn’t find a photo and I’m too lazy to take one, so you can just use you imagination.

Gimme these!:
gladiators
I tried these on the the Number 1 Shoe Warehouse yesterday and I’ve been lusting ever since. I used to hate gladiator style sandals, but I’ve changed my mind!

oxfords
Delicious Oxford style flats. So vintagey, so jazzy, so yum.

Music Monday: Skinny Love – Bon Iver

Posted by Sam on Monday, August 10th, 2009 at 10:56 pm

Bon Iver (Justin Vernon and, now, band) is becoming one of my favourite artists this year. I’ve been listening to his album For Emma, Forever Ago (2007) on repeat the last couple of weeks, and his 2009 EP Blood Bank for several months. Insanely beautiful music, so do check Bon Iver out further.

I might do a little series of his stuff for the next few weeks because I love so many songs. I only picked ‘Skinny Love’ this week because it’s my current favouritest-favourite. :p This video is of his performance on the UK’s Jools Holland Show (brilliant music show played on Sky TV’s Rialto channel; makes me miss Sky desperately!)

I hope my tiny gaggle of readers are ok. Thanks for sticking with me, guys! Sorry for being a poor commenter on your blogs — university is very time consuming, apparently (harhar ;) ).

Hi!

I'm Sam and this is where I share stuff that I love, bits of my life, & projects I'm working on. I like hot beverages, chocolate, making things, reading blogs, & I drink too much Coke Zero.
