Baby, it’s all right

Posted in Education at 1:29pm

I have to set the scene: I’m sitting on the couch doing some kind of seated Twist dance to Ray Charles. The 50s and 60s radio station on Sky Digital is genius.

I sent in my report this morning. Oh relief! I think it was ok, not great, but hopefully it will do. Now I’m working on my last assignment for the course, which is a learning journal I’ve been writing in for the duration of the course and a numeracy worksheet.

I only need to add one or two more entries to the journal, and I am stuck on one maths problem which I am waiting for help with (I’m having trouble understanding exactly what’s being asked, so I want to double-check). Except now I have to wait. I would be done by now if only my brain was sure of the meaning. Damn you, brain, you, you….grr!

Oh well, as long as I get it done by Monday, which is when the assignment is due, all will be well and the clouds will open up and God will praise thy. Or something.

I hope God is Johnny Depp or Caleb Followill. That would make me really happy. Just saying…

Christmas Cards

Posted in Arts and Crafts at 7:05pm

Yesterday I posted about how excited I am for Christmas and last night I decided that I will make my own Christmas cards this year instead of buying them. Though, I have to say, I usually try to at least get nice bought cards.

However, I think I am not alone when I say that a handmade card comes with an extra punch of special. There is nothing like receiving one that you know someone put time and effort into designing and creating, which is why I’m going to make my own this year.

Although I have made cards in the past, they have never been what I consider very professional looking, so I have been browsing online for ideas. I’ve found many lovely ones at Impress Rubber Stamps but have yet to finalise a design of my own. I don’t have tons of money to spend on supplies, so not many embellishments will be used (which is sensible since I will be mailing many of the cards overseas). All the cards will be the same, except for the ones I’m making for kids. I will either do designs using things each child likes, or just a different design for all the kids.

I have to make at least 25, I think, so I shall assemble a small factory and will probably hate card making when I’m done. :p

And, yes, I realise it’s still October, but in my excitement I am thinking ahead. And: to make them before the move or after? If I leave it a few weeks I can go to Spotlight in Auckland and look at their supplies, but will I still feel inclined to make them then?

Fitness and Weight-loss

Posted in Health at 5:03pm

A few months ago I created a blog over at Blogpot to track my weight-loss, fitness and how I was progressing with veganism. Shortly after it’s creation I went out of town for a couple of months to Auckland and stopped posting in it. Now I’m going to revive those subjects in this blog and I plan on updating about one a week on how I’m doing.
