I'm inspired to actually comment instead of my usual reading/lurking. ^^ I feel the woes of the moon flow I tell ya.  All my life I had long and painful periods, UNTIL I went on the Mirena IUD.  Now my periods are a few days long, really light and has cut my cramps right out.  Unlike the pill, it's a low dose hormone too, so if you struggle with weight gain or mood swings, it also reduces that. Also, it lasts 5 years and you don't have to do anything! No remembering, no worrying about running out and grabbing pills! I've been on one for 4 years now and I feel really good about it. Some women are iffy about it, (but most of the people who are negative about it have never actually tried it!).  Consult your doctor of course, and if you do look into it, make sure it's the Mirena IUD and not the copper one.   Hihi!
