New design

Just a quick note to say I’ve updated my blog design. I’m really pleased with it! But, as always, constructive criticism is welcome.

I still have a few small things I need to do but they can wait because I have a nice night in with my boyfriend which is far more important!

New Theme

New theme for Wrongdecade! However, this one is actually a pre-made theme by Artmov. I wanted something fresh on here but didn’t have the time/inspiration to create one of my own. I have made a few changes though, such as:

Widened the sidebar
Changed the size of some of the headers, as well as colour for one of them
Made a bullet for lists
Installed a page navigation plugin on it
Added a drop shadow to some of the text
And just a few very minor tweaks to what it says on my 404 page, etc

I also switched all my other pages over to WordPress. I had to edit them manually before, mainly because I preferred the control I had over them, as well as the fact I preferred to have unique sidebars for each section of my site. However, I have trimmed the site way back to really just a blog now. There are no ‘goodies’ anymore, but that’s okay because they were just recipe’s (which you can still access by looking at the Recipes category) and icon/avatars, the latter of which I really can’t be bothered with that stuff anymore. I never add anything new.

I’m super-happy with it. Now I just need to get back into blogging…

Big back yard adventures + new look

Happy Twenty-Ten, everyone! I hope you’re having an enjoyable year so far. My week has been pretty good, except for a brief stomach bug which is getting better. I had a quiet New Years Eve with my parents, boyfriend, one of my sister’s, nephew and his friend. We let off some fire crackers and Josh and I went for a moonlit walk.

On the weekend Josh and I camped in the bush on my farm! Apparently it doesn’t count as ‘real camping’ because it’s so close to home. I guess it’s more like really, really big backyard camping? Anyway, it was the first time I’ve ever camped in there and it was lovely. We had a fire and cooked sausages and potatoes for dinner the first night, drank wine and had a great time. It was pretty successful, although neither of us had a particularly comfortable sleep so the next day we got some small mattress things from home. The second night was muuuch more comfortable!

I didn’t get any photos of our little adventure, but I’m sure we’ll go camping there again before summer is over, in which case I will definitely take my camera.

Lastly, I have installed a new theme for the site. I actually made it back in November and was going to use it from December but then I of course made that Christmas theme. I’m fairly happy with it at the moment but there are a few things I’d like to tweak. What do you think? Constructive criticism is always welcome! (Yes, I am aware I am basically recycling the same base design, shhh!)

Festive Theme!

For the first time ever, I have created a holiday theme for my blog. I’m pleased as punch with it, quite frankly, considering I only decided I wanted to have a Christmas theme yesterday afternoon and worked on it until 10pm last night and then a bit this morning. Usually it takes me over a week to finalise a design because I tweak them so much!

Anyway, it features a wonderful illustration by Martine Lemmens and so far there is only one glitch (with the navigation appearance) which I will fix later today because I’m going out soon.

WordPress Comment Plugin

Do any of you lovely WordPress users know of any decent comment plugins? The main thing I want it to do is send an email notification to commenters when I (or maybe even someone else) replies to their comment.

New Design

I’ve finally made a new design for the site. What do you think? Constructive criticism is welcome, because I want to know how I can make it better and more functional. There are still a few design kinks I need to iron out, but I’m feeling a little ill and very tired so I’m going to leave them for tomorrow.

Fanlists and Namelist Adoptions

I’ve decided to adopt out all my fanlists and namelists. I’m no longer as interested in them as I once was, and the cost of renewing hosting for my PrettyBloomers domain is more than I am willing to pay. My heart just isn’t in keeping the sites I have hosted there going. I’d much rather have just this one. I am going to keep the domain name ‘prettybloomers.com’ though, as I may use it again in future.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in the following fanlists and namelists, please send an application. Include you name and URL (preferably to a collective of fan/namelists, if you have one).

Please contact me before May 15. My hosting expires on the 18th, so I would like to have it all sorted before then.

Sitely Updates

I finally got round to deleting my book review site because I never update it. I also need to decide what to do with my fanlisting collective Bubblegum Fangirl. There are so many fanlists I’ve joined that I no longer want to be a part of, mainly because I want to downsize, but deleting them is still a pain even though I use the Enthusiast script. There is no mass deletion (at least not in my version) and it always takes me back to page one after I delete something! Oh well, I suppose I can slowly chip away at it.

I’m also planning on giving up some of my fanlistings for adoption, just a few music ones that no one seems to ever join (I guess I have obscure taste in music…).

Jeez, talk about having to fluff about to get the comments styled nicely… The only downside of WordPress’ 2.7 release is that styling isn’t has straightforward as it once was (until, of course, you find this useful post and the world becomes a good, comfortable, happy place again). However, I am pleased to say that after much fluffing I have them pretty much done. Not exactly how I want them, but I can’t figure out how to that right now and I’m totally over it at this point.

So, yes, it should work and you can all converse with each other in my comments. Which you should start doing immediately to make me feel more important and loved.

Please?

P.S., I totally love Emma and Jeremy Northam is so delicious in everything. Can I have him for my 21^st birthday?

OMG She Actually Finished It!

Yes folks, that’s right, I have finally “finished” and uploaded by new site design. Well, actually, I uploaded it yesterday but today has been about tweaking everything to get it almost how I want it.

‘Almost’ being the operative word, here. No doubt I will continue to fiddle until I throw my hands up in the air and exclaim “Oh bugger it, who gives?”

Do you like my stick figure girl? It’s me wearing a bowler hat with a flower, and who doesn’t like bowler hats? Or flowers?

Anyway, constructive criticism is welcome, so feel free to throw some input in there, baring in mind I still have a few things to do, like upgrade the comments so they are threaded when I reply.
